I’ve already spent some of the money I earned - last night I spent £30 online on quilting, patchwork and tapestry supplies. I’ve recently rediscovered my love of needlecraft; to be honest I never really lost it, but it got kind of subsumed in the whole WoW obsession over the last couple of years. But since our gaming computer went kaput a couple of weeks ago (and also during Wimbledon, when I was glued to the highlights programmes in the evenings) I’ve almost completed a couple of small projects, restarted a couple of other stalled ones, and laid plans for an uber-quilt which will probably be left to my grandchildren as a bag of scraps, it’s that ambitious.

I blame my sister-in-law, H, who arrived to stay last weekend with her Kaffe Fassett quilting book and her own (future heirloom) bag of scraps to be sewn together. The particularly nice thing is that I’ve managed to share the joy with M, my eldest daughter, who is now collaborating with me on a patchwork cushion cover. And so the itch is passed from generation to generation.
